Rating 3 out of 10 on the Mohs Hardness Scale, Marble is a surprisingly less-durable stone than granite. After all, it was used to be chiseled for statues. With that in mind, marble countertops can scratch more easily than some other surfaces, and require certain care to avoid staining from cleaning products or liquids.
